Hair Shows and Movies and Elections, OH MY!

It has been a busy week! I attended the Maly's Hair Show in Grand Rapids on the 2nd & 3rd. It was awesome! I was able to take a lot of very interesting classes, including a hands on cutting class. I leatned some really cool new techniques, the actual cuts that we did on the mannikins were a little crazy, but it's great to get the creative juices flowing! The highlight of the week-end for me (other than cramming my brain with lots of great idea's & new skills!) was to meet one of my "Hair Hero's" Martin Parsins. I was able to go to his Updo class and got to meet him too! I was so very excited! I also sat in on some great organization and business classes, so if you see some changes in the salon or how we are doing things, were just trying some new idea's out and let us know how it works out for you ( you are the most important person to our business!)

On Nov. 4th (yes Election Day) I had the opourtunity to do hair and make-up for an independant film that was being shoot in Southfield. It was a neat expierence to see how everything happens. The film is based in the 1990's, so yes her hair is a little outdated! I really enjoyed doing this and hopefully I'll be able to expand out and work on another movie one day.

On to the Election! I did get a chance to go out and vote, and I hope you did too! We offered a complimentary haircut for voters (not to be outdone by Starbucks and Cold Stone Creamery). We had a nice turn out and got to meet alot of new people, we hope to see them all again!

Make sure you vote!!!

We are doing our part to help encourage voting in the election on Nov. 4th by offering all voters a free haircut!! You must be able to prove that you voted, so make sure to paste on your sticker or bring in your voter registration card. All that we ask in return is if you like your hair, to take a few business cards and pass them along to your friends! Thanks and we'll see you Tues!!

Free haircuts are subject to availability, 10 am - 8 pm

Yes I sent out an e-mail with out the the website address!

OOPS! I noticed after I sent out a huge mass e-mail to anyone that I had an e-mail address for, that I forgot to include the website link! My bad! It's www.Salon-Epiphany.com
It is totally under construction, honestly I haven't had too much time to add any pictures or content. But soon enough. For the time being though, you are able to book your own appointment online 24 - 7! You go through the request form, choose your day, time and service, then it sends us an e-mail. If everything looks good with your choices, we will confirm your appointment via e-mail and your done! How easy! We hope that you enjoy this feature.

We are planning a Grand Opening celebration for the whole week of Sept. 23rd - Sept. 27Th with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sat. at 10:00am. We even have invited the Mayor and all elected officials in Taylor to attend. We'd love for you to join us too! We will be having a little brunch to celebrate immediately following. We also will have great specials, lots of food, & drawings going all week also. Stop in just to say hi, and check the new place out! We can't wait to see you!

Oh My! Only a week till OPENING DAY!!

I am getting very excited, and nervous! We have one week till our tentative opening day! As long as the license from the State Board of Cosmetology comes we are set to open! Now all the details. . . . . What a busy week I have a head of me! I have to talk to the website guy tomorrow, we had a little problem with the first name I picked (and was told was o.k.) turns out I can't use it :( But don't worry, I already had all the business cards printed with the wrong one on it! Luckily it's only a difference of a - instead of a . I may have to fix some of the cards that I already received till I can get the new ones made :( Not happy about that! But you'll have to bear with the ghetto-ness for a week or so :) Other than that everything is going smoothly! I am excited to have all of the stylists getting together on wed evening for a "meet and greet" dinner of sorts. I think everyone will love the team! This is a GREAT group of gals! (nope, no guys yet!) I can't wait for everyone to meet them!

We are starting to take appointments! The mass e-mail will be going out tomorrow evening, but if you want to jump the gun, the telephone number is 734-225-6251. I should be there alot this week and if I miss your call, the first thing I do when I walk in the door is check the voice mail :) I'll post the website tomorrow! I'm so excited that you will be able to book your own appointments online 24-7!!

We are almost done! & Pictures

We are almost all done! Just a small (er) list of thing to get done and some cleaning up. We received our styling chairs, dryer chairs, & Pedicure units. Just waiting on a few more small deliveries :) We also are having a plumber come to install the pedicure units this week, but we have all of our final inspections on next wed. and everything should pass. Now we just need our license from the State Board of Cosmetology and we'll be open!!! We can't wait!

We did reschedule our Grand Opening party for our friends and family, we just needed some extra time to get all of the details finished. This way we can get a few hours of sleep and see the boys more. We hope to reschedule it for Sept. 27Th, but it's not set in stone! We'll let you know.
I'm adding some pictures, I tried to take some good ones. I am most excited that the signs are up. . . . GOOD BYE urban creations!!!

Closer everyday!

We have been very busy putting together furniture, finishing up the tile floors ( I make it sound like that was a small job, actually it was huge!), getting the front desk & computer ready (although I still need to sit on the phone with tech support for the website). The progress is astounding, we are seeing our vision come alive and it is very exciting! I can't wait to share it with everyone. Although I am nervous too, I want everyone to love it as much as I do :)

For those of you who are dying to get your hair done, I will be working from my house next Tues, Sept. 16Th. Please e-mail me to see if we can work out a time. Sarahbstylist@sbcglobal.net

One day I'll remember to take some more pictures of our progress, I keep forgetting. Tues should be an exciting day, our Styling Chairs, Dryer Chairs, and Pedicure units should be arriving! Although don't judge the chairs quite yet, they are sending me different ones (I'm sure the cheapest) because the ones that I ordered won't arrive to the company till next week. I'm nervous to see what they send.

It was a good day!

I was very pleased to get our stations in today, even though I had to load them all in the salon myself (thank God for dollies!) And they look amazing! I couldn't be happier with them. Then I also got to meet some awesome people who came in for interviews for receptionists and assistants. They are making it very hard to make a decision. Lots to do this week-end, more tiling (Rob is getting sick of doing it I think) furniture to be put together, and cleaning! If your bored this holiday week-end stop by we can always use an extra hand. I was very proud of myself, I put our computer together today! I even got the touch screen working. Now I just have to figure out how to get online and load our awesome software so you can start booking appointments online.

Making more progress & some pictures

I am very excited, today the painters finished and it looks great! We got the phone and internet installed yesterday, I am happy to say that we now have a phone number 1-734-225-6251 Although I still need to set up the voicemail because I won't be there to answer very much (and I need to hook the computer up too). Our website is coming along, a few little snags, but it should be up and able to start taking appointments soon. Yes, you will be able to book your next visit online 24-7! I thought alot of you would like that feature. Stay tuned for more updates!! Here are a few pictures of the colors, although the camera doesn't do them justice. Now to get the furniture in!

We're getting there!

The paint is almost done and I love the colors! It's so hard to pick from those little swatches. We will be receiving our Stations, Chairs, Dryers, Shampoo Chairs, and Pedicure units this week. I'm hoping the boxes will all fit, lol! We still have some tiling, floors & ceiling, to finish up this week-end. We also had the city inspectors through today, everything went very well, just a few minor details that need to be smoothed out. My last day of work will be Tues, Aug. 26Th and I am so excited to have more time to devote to getting the salon up and running. I know some of you will need your hair done, but give my cell phone a call (313-657-8597) and we can see what we can do about getting you in before the opening day. We have a new projected date : Sept. 16Th. Unfortunately I over looked a piece of paper that need to be filed with the State Board and it will take at least 3 weeks (or possibly 30 days :( to receive it and we can't open with out it. So pray that it gets here fast! More pictures to come soon, I keep forgetting my camera!

A bit about "Us"

I wanted to share a little bit about "us". We are Rob and Sarah Nitz. Sarah has been a Stylist for 10 years. Over this 10 years I have worked in quite a few salons, some good, some GREAT. I have attended many classes and hair shows. Recently I have become an educator for a company called Pravana. We will be carrying a full line of their hair care products and hair color, (it's an amazing line! You'll love it as much as I do!). Rob is a Programmer for a company called Valenite. He'll be doing alot more behind the scenes, but don't be surprised to see him in at the salon a few times a week! We have 2 beautiful little boys, Robbie 2 1/2 & Jacob 7 months, they are our pride and joy!

When we saw the open building, (Urban Creations had moved), it sparked our interests! Sarah had worked at this location for years, and it always had proven to be a hot spot. After looking at the building and weighing out the pro's and con's, we decided to jump in with both feet! So Salon Epiphany was born! We have been hard at work ever since finding all the right "things" for the salon and we can't wait to share them with you!

So Very Excited!!!

We are so very excited to announce our plans to open Salon Epiphany! We have been hard at work doing some renovations and all the paper work. We hope to open Sept. 9th!! As long as all of the city inspections go well, (and we don't sleep till then!) It should be an obtainable goal. I've posted a few of our "before" pictures to give you an idea of what we are doing.

We are still accepting applications for Hair and Nail Professionals. We have had an overwhelming response for receptionist and assistant positions. So if you know of anyone who is look to further their career, please pass on our information!
